Have you noticed sometimes when googling for a business that in the results you will see on the right of the screen a business with some description details, company address, telephone, website etc?
This is what is called My Business, a service provided by Google.
To check that your business is listed as part of My Business you can Google your business/company name and see if it turns up in the search results.
If it doesn’t then you can set up your listing with Google by:
Go to https://www.google.com/business/
Click Start Now and follow the prompts.
Google will ask you to verify your listing. This can be done over the phone or they will send out a postcard with a unique pin code to register your business listing with. By phone is the quickest as the postcard can take around a week.
In the meantime, before verification, you can start to fully update your listing with text and photos.
If you have your own website too you can add this to the listing as well.
When creating your listing make sure you go through all the categories and choose the one that matches your business closely. Don’t go too broad (i.e. don’t go for “restaurant” if you own a Thai food place, go for “Thai restaurant”).
Be sure to add structured data markup embedded in your website to specify your preferred social profiles. You can specify these types of social profiles:
